Ryan Jackson rushed for120 yards and two touchdowns as Houston rolled up 627 yards of total offense - 372 of it on the ground - to rout Southern 62-13 Friday night.
Jackson's two first half touchdown runs helped the Cougars jump out to a 27-6 lead before halftime. Houston quarterback John O'Korn took over in the second half, putting the game out of reach with three touchdown passes.
Kenneth Farrow added 97 yards rushing for Houston as four Cougars had at least 45 yards rushing on the night. Junior wide receiver Daniel Spencer had a career night with nine catches for 102 yards and a touchdown and also had a 45 yard run. Southern's Dray Joseph had a big night, finishing with 268 yards passing and two touchdowns while Darrius Coleman chipped in with with 91 yards on the ground.
Houston is a Temple next Saturday while Southern visits Northwestern State.
