Vendula Strakova, who had 67 kills on 145 attacks in leading Hampton to a 3-0 record this weekend, was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's Player of the Week Monday.
Strakova, a 6-foot junior from Brno, Czech Republic, had a .290 hitting percentage in three matches in the North Carolina Central Invitational over the weekend. A three-time MEAC Player of the Week last year, Strakova was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player as she also had six service aces in those three matches.
Der'ja Martin of the Florida A&M was named the MEAC's Rookie of the Week had 19 kills and eight digs during the Georgia Tech Invitational.
