The Morehouse track and field team apparently didnt like being runners-up.
After finishing second last season in last year's Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's Track and Field Conference Championships, the Flying Maroon Tigers led all three days in this year's meet to win their ninth title in ten years.
Morehouse finished with 167 points, was second with 130 points. Benedict was third with 126 points.
On the women's side, four Benedict Lady Tigers led that program to their second title in three years. Krishanda Campbell-Brown won first place in the pole vault, long jump and triple jump, scoring 54 total points, more than any other male or female athlete in the SIAC meet. Campbell-Brown also finished second in the heptathlon and third in the 100-meter hurdles. Jonnise Pierce, who scored the most points in last year's meet, won the Top Female Athlete Award this year in winning the 10,000 meter run, the 5,000-meter run and the 3,000-meter steeplechase. She finished third in both the 800-meter run and the 1,500-meter run.
Benedict finished with 214 points, followed by Albany State's 199.5 and Clark Atlanta which finished with 165 points.
